Does your kid desperately need a haircut in this hot weather, but you cannot fathom the idea of picking up a pair of scissors or clippers (if you own one) and cutting it yourself like me? Perhaps your kid is extra sensitive to hair being touched. I love it when kids (especially boys) have a fresh styled cut, and I have to introduce you the best Garden City Hairdressers my past clients recommend:
If you live on the south side of Brisbane you can be rest assured that Just Cuts does not only does adult haircuts but they specialise in kids too. Lisa has been nominated as the most understanding kids hair stylist by several of my clients, and she even does cool fades for little ones. They offer a 7 day guarantee Style Cut. They are a walk-in hairdresser but you can check in online through the Just Cuts app.
“Harry is usually bright and cheery but the idea of a haircut made him so uncomfortable and nervous. Lisa (the hairdresser) lets Harry play with toys while watching TV and was happy to slowly cut his hair. Harry now loves his new haircut and can’t wait to go back again! Reasonably price as well, highly recommend.”
Pam has been cutting kids hair for 15 years. She is a mobile hairdresser servicing all of Brisbane, which means you and your kid can achieve this mission impossible in the comfort of your own home! Pam specialises in kids with special needs such as sensory issues – she is such a kind soul, patient and understanding. During her phone consultation she will provide advice on how to commnicate with your child so that they understand what happens when they have a haircut, why and how. She has all the tricks and games up her sleeves if needed, and children love her! Her prices start from $40, which is totally affordable for someone who’s so brilliant.
Look at haircuts of his/her favourite super heroes/ cartoon characters/ princesses. A client of mine loves spiderman and he just wanted to have a haircut like spiderman. Pretend hairdressing often works well too in preparing your child for the experience.
Bring an iPad or download a cartoon show ready on your phone to keep him occupied during the haircut.
For obviously safety reasons this is definitely not recommended.
Have realistic expectations that you may not get the style or length you want on the first go. Build up tolerance in kids.
